The annual Python programming conference for professionals, entrepreneurs, scientists, academics and students.

Looking back at PyCon Namibia 2020

PyCon Namibia 2020 was held at NamPower Convention Centre in Windhoek from 18th-20th February.

The sixth edition of Namibia's annual PyCon took place not long before the world awoke to the threat of COVD-19. In the weeks and months that followed, one PyCon after another had to be wiped off the calendar - we were lucky.

This year, we had new international visitors from Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Côte d'Ivoire, Czechia, Finland and the USA. Once again, some 90+ attendees graced the event over three days.

PyCon Namibia continues to strengthen and inspire the pan-African Python community, and introduce Python users from the rest of the world to their African counterparts.

The Namibian Python community goes from strength to strength. School pupils who had their first taste of Python at earlier editions of PyCon NA are now confident programmers who speak about their work at the event and coach at Django Girls. Python beginners are turning into the next generation of Namibian software professionals.

Talks and workshops

Both absolute newcomers to programming and highly experienced software professionals come to PyCon Namibia, and our talks and workshops reflected this.

We held a packed programme of sessions over three days.

Sponsors

PyCon Namibia once again received contributions in financial sponsorship and other support from organisations, as well as private donations from individuals, across the world. We are enormously grateful to all of our supporters.
