Python is the technology. Industry is where the impact happens.

PyCon Namibia brings the people who build technology together with the organisations that need it, from mining and energy to finance, healthcare, agriculture and government.

What Python is used for

Python turns ideas, data and complex problems into working solutions. It is one of the most widely used technologies in the world, and this conference is about what it can do in practice, not only how to write it.

What organisations use Python for

  • Applications and digital services
  • Process automation
  • Data analysis at scale
  • Artificial intelligence and machine learning
  • Scientific and engineering research
  • Connecting existing systems

Where Python meets Namibia's industries

Mining remains central to the economy, while oil and gas, green hydrogen, renewable energy and digital infrastructure are opening new opportunities. Every one of these sectors runs on data, and each needs people who can turn that data into decisions.

  • Mining

Analyse operational and sensor data to spot patterns, anticipate equipment failures and improve safety.

  • Oil and gas

Process exploration and production data, and model complex operations before committing capital.

  • Green hydrogen and renewable energy

Model energy systems, forecast generation and plan how power is produced, stored and delivered.

  • Telecommunications and digital infrastructure

Monitor and automate networks, and build the platforms that new digital services run on.

  • Finance

Detect fraud, assess risk and build the digital banking and payment services customers expect.

  • Healthcare

Manage and process health information efficiently, and plan services with better data.

  • Agriculture and fishing

Track yields, weather, stock and markets, and make decisions on evidence rather than estimates.

  • Government

Deliver public services that are more accessible, efficient and transparent.

These are challenges that software, data and automation can help with. They are industry problems first, and programming problems second.

Speakers from industry, education and the developer community seated together in front of sponsor banners at PyCon Namibia 2026

Industry knows the problems. Technology can build the answers.

A developer understands what Python can do. A mining engineer, a clinician or a public servant understands problems a developer may never see. When they meet, both leave with something they could not have found alone.

  1. Industryexplains the challenge
  2. Technologistsexplore the solutions
  3. Togetherthey discover what is possible

Why your organisation should be in the room

You do not need to write Python

If your work involves data, software, automation or digital systems, Python is probably already relevant to it, or soon will be.

For companies, institutions and government

Attend

Send the people who make technology decisions. See practical work from teams already building with Python, understand what it could do for your organisation, and meet the local talent you will need to hire.

For organisations investing in skills

Sponsor

Put your name in front of Namibia's developers, IT leaders, businesses and public sector. Sponsorship funds affordable tickets and Education Day, and shows you are investing in the country's technology future.

Beyond "What can Python do?", we want to ask

What can Python do for Namibia?

Namibia is entering an important period of economic and technological change. Growth in energy, mining and digital infrastructure will create new opportunities, and new technical challenges.

The country will need people who can build software, work with data and automate processes. It will also need organisations that know how to put those skills to work.

We want to hear from developers about what they are building, from businesses about the problems they face, from government about digital transformation, and from industry about the technology it needs.

Python brings us together. Industry gives us the problems worth solving.

Whether you build technology, use it, invest in it or shape policy around it, this conversation is for you. Join us at NIPAM, Windhoek, 26 February – 4 March 2027.
