Visa Information

Travellers attending PyCon Namibia 2026 may require a business visa. Here’s everything you need to know about applying and getting assistance.

Visa Support Letter

Attendees who require a visa can request a visa support letter to assist with their application. Once your ticket is purchased, you are automatically registered as an attendee.

  • If your ticket was purchased by your organization, ensure they email us to register you as an attendee and provide the order code.
  • Speakers are encouraged to purchase a ticket but alternative arrangements can be discussed if this is not possible.

Windhoek, Namibia

Windhoek, the capital city, is safe, compact, and convenient for visitors. Explore hotels, restaurants, cultural landmarks like the National Museum and Christ Church, local markets, and more. The main airport (Hosea Kutako) is just 20 minutes from the city center.

Getting to Windhoek

Direct flights are available from Munich, Frankfurt, Johannesburg, and several African cities. Most international travelers connect via Frankfurt or Johannesburg.

Health and Vaccinations

  • Medical services are of high standard. Tap water is safe to drink.
  • Moderate precautions against mosquito bites (malaria risk minimal in Windhoek).
  • Vaccinations: Hepatitis A, Tetanus, Typhoid recommended. Consider Cholera, Diphtheria, Hepatitis B, and Rabies if travelling outside Windhoek.
  • No yellow fever risk in Namibia.

Currency

The Namibian Dollar (NAD) is pegged 1:1 with the South African Rand (ZAR). Attendees may find it easier to exchange Rand before travelling.
